About

I'm Matt Silcox. I write about Microsoft Purview, information protection, and data security architecture.

Most of what you'll find here is technical - MIP SDK integrations, custom sensitive information types, automation tools for Exchange Online, that kind of thing. If you're implementing Purview and running into problems Microsoft's docs don't cover, this is probably useful to you.

What I Actually Do

I help companies in finance, healthcare, and legal protect sensitive data without breaking their existing workflows. Most of my work involves:

  • Purview implementations that actually work
  • Custom MIP SDK development when out-of-box tools don't cut it
  • Building automated sensitivity detection across M365 environments
  • Security architecture for organizations with real compliance requirements

I don't do slideware or enterprise theater. You get working solutions and documentation your team can use.
